A man found dead floating in the Mississippi River on May 12 has been identified as a 27 year old from Houma

6-1-15 Louisiana:

A body found floating in the Mississippi River on May 12 has been identified as a 27-year-old from Houma.

Anthony Ferguson‘s body was recovered after an hours-long recovery operation on May 12 near Port Sulphur, Plaquemines Parish Sheriff Lonnie Greco said in a news release.

Ferguson’s identity had eluded authorities for weeks. The corpse was found in a state of extreme decomposition, and police initially had little to go on other than a macabre tattoo of a skull found on the body’s left chest. But the Louisiana State Police crime lab was able to use DNA to positively identify Ferguson on May 27.

Ferguson’s car was discovered abandoned on the Crescent City Connection on March 11. Matey said she would not speculate about whether Ferguson committed suicide, but that no foul play was suspected in his death.

Rape suspect kills himself before trial

4-7-15 Louisiana:

A Houma man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his home the night before his aggravated rape trial in Vermilion Parish, Houma Police said Wednesday.

David Dore, 47, was found April 7 with a single gunshot wound in his upper torso after he shot himself at close range, Lt. Dana Coleman said. Police found no evidence of foul play.

"We don't know how long he's been living in Houma, but he's been here for several years," Coleman said.

Police found a shotgun beside Dore's body that was believed to be in his possession before the suicide, Coleman added.

Four years ago, Dore was charged with breaking into an Abbeville woman's apartment and raping her, the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office said. The Acadiana Crime Lab in New Iberia confirmed a DNA match with Dore by using preliminary samples taken from the victim during a 1986 rape kit examination.

Death investigation at home of man arrested for child porn

6-9-15 Florida:

NORTH NAPLES, Fla. – A death investigation is underway at the home of a retired doctor who was arrested on child porn charges last week.

Deputies and crime scene were coming in and out of the Village Walk community Tuesday afternoon.

WINK News confirmed the death investigation is at the home of 69-year-old Freddy Koenig. Neighbors say he is the only one who lived in the home.

Koenig was arrested after reports show he tried to print out inappropriate pictures at a kiosk in a North Naples Costco. An employee took a look at the pictures and called deputies.

Reports show the pictures were of what looked to be a 13-year-old girl having sex with a man. Koenig prepaid for the pictures and was arrested in the Costco parking lot.

Koenig bonded out of jail around 2 a.m. Saturday; he had to hand over his passport as ordered by the judge.

Monday his attorney filed a not guilty plea and requested a trial. About 24 hours later, Koenig’s home was roped off with crime scene tape. ..Source.. by WINK News

Providence high school basketball coach who was accused of teen sex assault kills himself

6-15-15 Rhode Island:

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island — A longtime high school basketball coach charged last week with sexually assaulting a teenage boy killed himself on Monday just hours after defending himself in an email to a newspaper.

Tyrone Dale, who was 45 years old, hanged himself in Pawtucket on Monday evening and was pronounced dead at a hospital, Providence police said.

Dale had served as a part-time seasonal employee of the Providence public schools and the Providence recreation department. He coached girls' basketball at the Juanita Sanchez Educational Complex. He also coached at the West End Recreation Center.

Dale was charged with sexual assault on Friday. A 15-year-old boy said Dale pulled his shorts down and fondled him at the recreation center last month, according to a police report. The boy told police he felt nervous and intimidated and recorded the sexual assault on his cellphone, the report said.

DA Clears Cop for Shooting Suicidal Sex Offender Who Grabbed for a Drug Pipe

6-17-15 Colorado:

Organizers of a petition to recall Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey complain that he hasn't charged any Denver police officers for line-of-duty shootings during his decade-plus in office.

Against this backdrop, Morrissey has issued a decision letter clearing another Denver cop, Officer Armando Cruz, in the March 20 shooting of sex offender John Thomas Clark, 42.

According to the document, on view below, Clark was reaching for what turned out to be a drug pipe, not a gun, when Cruz shot him. However, the report also quotes Clark as saying he did so because he wanted Cruz to kill him, establishing it as a suicide-by-cop scenario.

Continue for the details, illustrated with photos from the scene provided by the Denver District Attorney's office.

On March 3, the letter's "Statement of Facts" section notes, Clark was charged in Arapahoe County District Court with numerous felonies, including sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, sexual assault on a child/pattern of conduct, incest and being a habitual criminal.
