Man commits suicide after child-porn arrest

A Tucson man who had been arrested in connection with sexual exploitation of a minor committed suicide, police said Thursday.

Richard Braun, 50, who was arrested last Friday, was found dead in his home Tuesday, said Sgt. Chris Widmer, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

Braun had recently been released from the Pima County jail, Widmer said.

In January, a tip was sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about three photos depicting child sexual abuse that were uploaded to an online data storage website.

The upload was traced to a home owned by Braun in the 1500 block of West Greenlee Street,near West Prince and North Romero roads, police said. At least two of the photos "appeared to be obviously child pornography," a search warrant stated.

Braun was facing five felony counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. ..Source.. by Arizona Daily Star

Man commits suicide after Round Rock PD issues public warning

Round Rock police say a registered sex offender who was approaching young girls committed suicide after police put out a public safety bulletin about him on social media.

Police posted a notice about Robert Wooster Friday on their Facebook and Twitter pages.

Police say an investigation led to a confession from Wooster that he had been approaching young girls and offering them rides.

The notice said there were no charges pending against Wooster, but the notice had his picture, name and identifying characteristics.

"I made a decision that even though no crime had been committed, that Mr. Wooster's behavior was abnormal. I made a decision to go ahead and put a public notice out on Facebook," said Round Rock Police Chief Tim Ryle.

Ryle says Wooster fatally shot himself Friday evening. ..Source.. by KVUE News



Police: Sex offender commits suicide after public warning

A registered sex offender died of apparent suicide Friday night hours after Round Rock police announced that an investigation revealed the man recently offered rides to girls.

No other details were immediately available, but Round Rock police say they will address the media on Sunday.

The bulletin sent out Friday by Round Rock police stated Robert “Bobby” Wooster, 49, of Georgetown, was not charged with any crime. The notice was for “public awareness purposes,” according to the department.

Police investigated Wooster after a girl said she was offered a ride while walking home from the store, according to Round Rock police. Police say the investigation revealed Wooster had also offered rides to other young girls in the area.

Wooster was convicted of attempted sexual assault in 1986 and of sexual assault in 1989, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety sex offender registry. He was required to register as a sex offender annually for life, according to the registry. ..Source.. by Sam Womack
